Aljur Abrenica will portray the true-to-life story of a man who falls in love with a midget in the March 2 episode of “Wagas” titled “Ang Pag-ibig na Di Nasusukat” on GMA News TV.

Aljur will portray the story of Edwin Botis, a normal guy who falls in love with a midget named Jenny.

Edwin and Jenny’s interesting love story started when they were still textmates/phonepals. They came to know each other by communicating using only their mobile phones. When they decided to meet up in person, they decided to pursue the relationship with Edwin notwithstanding his height difference with Jenny.

Witness the struggles experienced both by Edwin and Jenny as they continue their unconventional relationship, and thereby proving to the world that height doesn’t matter when it comes to true love.

March is the birthday month of Aljur Abrenica and it looks like it’s going to be a great year for the Kapuso hunk as he preps up for new projects while his love life takes an uphill turn.

2013 is turning out to be a very good year for Aljur as a slew of new projects are coming his way. After bagging a handful of endorsement deals, GMA Artist Center, the talent management arm of GMA Network that handles the young actor’s career, announced that Aljur is primed for the big leagues this year.

In a pocket interview at the 17th floor of GMA Network on Thursday, February 28, Aljur delightfully shared with the entertainment press and bloggers what’s in store for him in the coming days.

First off, the Kapuso hunk will portray the real life story of a man who falls in love with a midget in this Saturday’s episode of “Wagas.” Titled “Ang Pag-ibig na Di Nasusukat,” Aljur will portray the powerful love story of Edwin Botis, a normal guy who falls in love with a midget named Jenny. The said episode is set to air on March 2, 7:00pm, on GMA News TV.

Aljur will also portray another life story in the drama anthology “Magpakailanman.” This time, it’s the life of an indie film actor who sidelined as a macho dancer, and had to resort to the flesh trade to feed his children.

Knowing the challenges that the role requires, Aljur is preparing himself by learning how is it to be like a macho dancer.

“Pinaghahandaan na po namin siya ngayon, nakapagworkshop na kami. Meron pa akong gustong aralin e, ‘yung macho dancing.

“Pag-aaralan ko talaga ang pagsayaw ng macho dancing. Naghahanap ako ngayon ng magtuturo sa akin,” he said.

And just like what he did in “Machete,” Aljur expects that he will show a lot of skin again in this Magpakailanman episode.

“Di pa po ako sure kung ano ang susuutin pero expected ko siyempre kapag macho dancer, siyempre shirtless tapos naka-pekpek shorts lagi, parang ganun.”

To be directed by Maryo J. delos Reyes, the said episode was said to be about the true-to-life story of Kristoffer King.

Aside from “Wagas” and “Magpakailanman,” Aljur is also about to join the cast of the historical-fantasy teleserye “Indio” as Bagandi, a datu who will come up against an empowered Juancho (Michael de Mesa). Displaced by the Spaniards, he will find himself joining a group of rebels who will rise against the oppresive forces of the foreigners–fighting alongside Malaya–which is being portrayed by Sen. Bong Revilla, Jr.

“Ako po si Bagandi. Isa siyang magaling na mandirigma na tutulong kay Indio,” Aljur shared.

Despite the pressure of coming in midway into the show’s run, Aljur also acknowledges the honor of stepping up to the headlines with Sen. Revilla, the lead actor of “Indio.”

“Excited na po akong makatrabaho si Senator Bong,” he said.

After “Indio,” Aljur is slated to reunite with his “Coffee Prince” co-star and long-time screen partner Kris Bernal. They will topbill the much talked-about teleserye “Prinsesa ng Masa” as clamors for another “AlKris” project are persistent. This project is slated to air on the third quarter of the year.

Meanwhile, Aljur revealed plans of holding a birthday concert on March 24 fro the benefit of his favorite charity. No less than his brother Vin Abrenica, who is currently making a name for himself on the Kapatid network, will be his special guest. They are eyeing to stage the concert either in Manila or Batangas.

And as for his lovelife, Aljur is all smiles lately because he and Robin Padilla‘s daughter Kylie finally decided to make their relationship public. The Kapuso hunk waited a long time for this to happen.

It can be remembered that Aljur defended his girlfriend from online bashers a couple of weeks ago, some of them fans of the Aljur-Kris love team, to prove his love for the “Unforgettable” star.

“Basta ako, nandito lang ako para sa kanya. At hangga’t kaya ko, ipaglalaban ko siya,” he said with conviction.

This is a true life story of a father who sacrificed everything – even his dignity – to save his ailing son. Kapuso hunk and matinee idol Aljur Abrenica is starring in this Saturday’s episode (April 27) of the GMA drama anthology program, “Magpakailanman.”

The episode, entitled “Bayarang Adonis: The Kristoffer King Story,” features the true life story of Kristoffer King, a fledging independent actor who sacrificed his own dignity and resorted to prostitution to save his son ailing son.

Kristoffer (Aljur) grew up in a family filled with all the comforts of life. When he was younger, he got almost anything that he wanted. Unfortunately, when his breadwinner mom passed away, his family’s fate turned upside down. Because his father wasn’t always available to guide him while he was growing up, Kristoffer turned to drugs and not long, his life was a mess.

Kristoffer became a father at a very young age. In order to provide for the needs of his own family, he worked as a back-up dancer, however, his irregular and modest pay was not enough to foot the bill. He desperately needed to find a higher paying job.

One day, a gay bar owner approached Kristoffer and offered him the job of a macho dancer. At first he was hesitant to accept the offer but driven by his financial woes, he took the job convincing himself that it will be “temporary.”

With his new job as macho dancer, he became more able to make ends meet but fate, it seemed, wasn’t done throwing hurdles at the young father just yet. Making things worse, Kristoffer’s son was diagnosed with a rare disease called Hunter’s Syndrome, a serious genetic disorder.

Feeling hopeless, Kristoffer upped the ante and shifted from being just a macho dancer to a high-class male prostitute. With his good looks and chiseled body, he drew in matrons and gay benefactors who were more than willing to squander huge amounts for a chance to be with Kristoffer in private.

Just as he thought it was too late and that he doesn’t have a way out of the mess he placed himself into, Kristoffer received a marriage proposal — and a Green Card – from a rich matron. He saw it as a chance to straighten up his life and start anew. The offer is enticing, but will he take it?

Kapuso hunk actor Aljur Abrenica has vindicated himself from his bashers’ and critics’ taunting about his acting skills when he delivered very exceptional acting in last Saturday’s episode of “Magpakailanman” in which he portrayed the life story of a macho dancer.

The episode won in the overnight household ratings against “Maalaala Mo Kaya” in viewer-rich Mega Manila (25.8% vs. 19.3%) based on data from the Nielsen Television Audience Measurement (Nielsen TAM). Aljur, who was pitted against kapamilya network’s Enrique Gil, seemed to have the edge over his counterpart acting-wise and abs-wise (!).

Netizens were quick to post their comments about the actor’s performance in the micro-blogging site Twitter.

In the episode, Aljur played the role of Kristoffer King, an independent film actor who resorted to stripping and prostitution during his life’s darkest moments. Kristoffer had everything in life but when his breadwinner mom died, his life began to spiral downward. Not long, a wrong set of peers and unhealthy vices led him astray and left his life a mess.

Adding to his troubles, Kristoffer became a father at a young age. Since his part-time job as a back-up dancer couldn’t foot the bill, he accepted an offer by a gay bar owner to become a male stripper thinking that it will only be “temporary.” Unfortunately, his son developed a serious genetic disease called Hunter’s Syndrome, and so Kristoffer needed a better paying job to sustain the child’s life-long treatment. Desperate and feeling helpless, Kristoffer used his chiselled body and good looks to earn more – as a high-end male prostitute.

Just as Kristoffer thought he’d be a manwh**e for life, a rich matron offered him a ticket out of the moral dung heap — plus a Green Card — in exchange of being her husband. Although it seemed like his much awaited silver lining, it had a catch: Kristoffer will have to leave his ailing son behind. Being the good father that he is, he rejected the offer and chose to be with his son through and through.

Talking about the role, Aljur Abrenica said in an interview with the entertainment website PEP.ph that he found the macho dancing part a bit of a challenge since he is not used to “sensual” dancing. “Bago po talaga sa akin itong pagma-macho dancing dahil kadalasan, kung sumasayaw ako, hip-hop, ganyan. O iba pang klaseng genre ng sayaw,” he said to PEP.

Aljur continued that he even asked his friends if they could recommend someone who dances in a gay bar to choreograph him. He was also given by the production team a list of movie titles to watch so he could get some pointers on how to do it.

His efforts paid off in the end since it seemed that viewers really enjoyed – or to sound less titillating, “appreciated” – Aljur’s performance, which they got for free in the comfort of their homes and without the need for a tip!

The episode, entitled “Nasayang na Jackpot: The Dionie Reyes Story,” stars Luis Alandy and Ms. Jaclyn Jose, with Dexter Doria, Jay R and Karen delos Reyes. It is written by Jason John Lim and directed by Ricky Davao.

Young Kapuso male stars Aljur Abrenica, Enzo Pineda, Mike Tan, Steven Silva and Ken Chan brought joy to the single moms of Kaisahang Buhay Foundation as a post Mother’s Day project of GMA Artist Center on Friday, May 17.

The 5 Kapuso young actors are grateful with their own mothers and as a tribute, they decided to ‘give back’ by allotting time from their busy schedules to celebrate Mother’s Day with the single moms of Kaisahang Buhay Foundation in Cubao, Quezon City, a home of unwed and single mothers.

Baranggay LS’ Papa Dudut and comedienne Tess Bomb served as hosts of the program.

Up and rising Kapuso actor Ken Chan was the first to arrive in the venue and mingled with the single moms. The “Home Sweet Home” star recalls how his own mom has always been on his side despite his naughtiness.

“My mom has always been there for me. No ifs, no buts, just pure motherly love,” he recalled.

Enzo Pineda was apologetic to the single moms because he was perspiring a lot because of the hot weather. But not a single soul complained because his charming presence alone cheered each and every one in the event. The “Kakambal ni Eliana” star serenaded the moms with an inspiring song.

Steven Silva missed his mom who is currently residing in the US. He said the presence of the single moms in the foundation reminds him on how his mom helped him adjust to new environments.

“My mom helped me a lot. Since I grew up in the States, she helped me adjust to the new environment and helped me to keep my feet stay grounded no matter what,” he said.

Mike Tan made the single moms laugh with some jokes and also gave a heartwarming message to them in tribute to his own mother.

“My mom has always been supportive of my career since day one, since Starstruck days until now. I always come to her for pieces of advice especially when the showbiz ways of life gets to me at times,” he shared.

And finally, Aljur Abrenica serenaded his way to the heart of the single moms with a love song and gave them roses. In his charismatic ways, he was able to make them ‘kilig.’

The “Indio” star said he was touched to see the how happy and strong the single moms are in the event.

“Personally, I’m very close to my mom so this event is really heartwarming specially we know that in our own little ways, we can help and make them happy,” he said.

Aside from giving the single moms red roses, special cup cakes and white balloons, the five Kapuso hunks also gave the participants various gifts from their sponsors like Bench, Century Tuna, Calayan Surgicenter, Erase Placenta, Ok Quench and Guitar 60.

After their memorable performances in Coffee Prince, Kris and Aljur reignite their onscreen tandem in Prinsesa Ng Buhay Ko which is the first program shot in full HD using DLSR cameras.

Introducing in this program is newest Kapuso Renz Fernandez who will play the role of Luis, Nick’s stepbrother who will fall in love with Princess.

Prinsesa ng Buhay Ko tells the story of Princess, a hardworking young woman who was orphaned at a young age. Despite being raised in a foster home, Princess is strong-willed who possesses a big heart and an independent spirit.

In the orphanage, Princess will meet Nick, who often becomes the subject of bullying among the kids. Princess will become Nick’s defender from these bullies and eventually, they will become close friends.

Princess and Nick’s friendship ends when Nick’s father Roberto arrives to take him away. Nick is left with no choice but to go with Roberto after learning that his mother Tess abandoned him completely and sold him to his father.

After many years, Princess left the orphanage and is now a vendor in a flea market. One day, she witnesses a crime and tries to save a man from being kidnapped. Little did she know that this man is no less than Luis, the rich son of Roberto Grande.

Because of her heroic act, Princess’ catches the attention not only of Luis but also the public, the media and even the TV networks. She will soon become very popular and Princess is now living the charmed life she always dreamed of.

Things get complicated when Nick and Princess’ paths cross again. Princess discovers that Nick is her long lost friend in the orphanage and worse, he is Luis’ stepbrother.

How will this revelation affect Princess’ relationship with the two brothers? Will Nick and Princess take their friendship to the next level or will Nick give way to his brother Luis? Who will win Princess’ heart? Luis or Nick?

Aljur Abrenica, one of GMA Artist Center’s hottest talent, is set to stage his second major concert at the Music Museum on November 7 called “Come and Get Me.”

During the blog conference held at Congo Grille Timog last Saturday, October 19, the Kapuso hunk shared the concept of his concert and how it fits his personality.

“Well ‘yung title mismo pinag-isipan po namin lahat. [Come and Get Me] ‘yung napili namin kasi nagpi-fit siya sa image natin e, and sa personality ko kung sino man talaga ako kasi, sabi nga nila sexy ako e.”

“Meron po kaming dance number ni Rochelle [Pangilinan], meron din po akong dance number tapos singing, sing and dance, mostly”

Aside from Rochelle Pangilinan, some people close to Aljur’s heart like Julie Anne San Jose, his “Prinsesa ng Buhay Ko” leading lady Kris Bernal and his brother who is now a Kapatid star Vin Abrenica will also perform at the concert.

Supporters of Alur are in for a special treat as he is expected to perform tracks and medleys that he personally chose.

“Sobra akong excited sa darating kong concert dahil maihahandog ko sa mga manonood ang ilan sa mga paborito kong mga kanta.

“Dapat din nilang abangan ang mga inihanda naming surpresa para sa kanila,” he said.

When asked if his girlfriend Kylie Padilla will grace the concert, this is Aljur’s reply:

“Sana, sana, wino-workout namin. Pero surprise na ‘yun.”

Aside from Aljur’s “Come and Get Me” concert this November, the singing hunk is also prepping up for the launch of his second studio album as a follow up to “Sayang Sayang” which was released by GMA Records in 2010.

“After the concert, siguro early next year po ang release ng bagong album ko.

“Target namin 8 to 10 songs, under MCA naman po siya,” he said.

What kind of songs can his fans expect from his new album?

“Yung style of singing ko kasi ine-explore ko pa e. Naghahalo-halo pa ako e, nag-ra-rock ako, nag-pa-pop ako nag-ja-jazz ako, so sa upcoming album ko exploration, pero ang pinasok po muna namin medyo RnB na pop

“Usually ang mga kinakanta ko po ‘yung mga kanta ni Bruno Mars, Maroon 5 and old school lang, mga Bon Jovi songs.

“And some tracks po from may album, kakantahin ko rin sa concert,” he added.

At the full-packed Music Museum on a rainy Thursday night, heartthrob and hunk Aljur Abrenica entertained the crowd at his first major concert, so aptly named Come and Get Me. Although, it is expected for the ex-Machete actor to go topless often in the entire 2-hour stretch of the show, he only stripped once.

It doesn’t mean it’s less the spectacle though as the Starstruck alumnus proved he is capable of also dominating the music industry. He opened the show with upbeat tracks from One Direction, did an entire set of Justin Timberlake songs, re-performed his Cosmo bash theme “Blurred Lines”, and serenaded the crowd with ballads including the smash hits of British singer Adele.

Aljur Abrenica takes a short break from “Kambal Sirena” and from recording his upcoming album to spend time with the kids of World Vision in Quezon City. It was easy for the Kapuso hunk to chose World Vision as the outreach venue for his birthday since he has pledged educational support for two children from Palawan through the non-government organization.

Aljur will be turning 24 on March 24 but he celebrated his birthday early on March 20 to not intervene with his taping schedule for his newest primetime show. Aside from spending time with his family over the weekend, the Starstruck Season 4 winner is marking his birthday with the World Vision kids. “Kailangan mag give back sa daming blessings. I am starting with World Vision.” The former Machete star was emotional when he shared how happy he is receiving letters from his beneficiaries.

Quality first on ‘Kambal Sirena’

But if there’s one wish that Aljur can ask for his birthday, it is the warm acceptance of the public for his sirena-serye “Kambal Sirena”. His new show is facing stiff competition with ABS-CBN’s “Dyesebel”. “We’re aware of the competition. Pressure? Di namin masyado iniisip yung kompetensya eh. We’re focusing more on sa kung ano ang kaya naming gawin. Kung ano man yung nagawa namin before, paano mas mahihigitan pa,” he said.

Aljur also expressed that he and his co-stars are taking more time on giving the viewers a quality show than be destructed with ratings. “Di ko nababalitaan talaga ano yung mga nangyayari sa kabila. Kung nasa trabaho kami, we’re giving our 100 percent. Mas binibigyan namin ng pansin ang quality, ang story, ang acting, ang sa camera. Di ko actually inaalam ang ratings.”

Kantar Media provided the first viewership data for this week which shows “Dyesebel” claiming the number 1 spot on Monday, March 17. “Dyesebel” debuted with 32.8% while “Kambal Sirena” started its second week with 17.9%. Other ratings provider still has to supply their data though.
